We recruit, nurture, and deploy new technology-driven regular and
student companies in a collaborative effort with Midlands Technical
College. It's an effort backed by a number of area governmental and
private sponsors, as well as faculty, staff and students. Why?
Because incubator businesses are at the forefront of developing new
innovative technologies. And they create products and services that
improve the quality of our lives.
According to a recent study conducted by the National Policy
Research Council, South Carolina is one of the country's top ten
"Hot States for Entrepreneurs." We like to think our resources --
professional mentoring, affordable facilities, access to seed
capital, service provider networks, and computer networking-are a
few reasons why. Since our beginning (in November 1998), we have
provided Midlands’ entrepreneurs an avenue for commercializing their
ideas and producing successful, financially-viable freestanding
businesses that have created hundreds of additional jobs in the
local community. These entrepreneurs come from different
backgrounds. Some are experienced businessmen, researchers or
inventors; others are students from the University of South Carolina
(USC) or Midlands Technical College (MTC) who thrive to develop the
local economy. Finally, our International Business Center welcomes
companies from all over the world who come to Columbia, SC to profit
from the resources offered by USC or MTC.
I invite you to contact us and see what the USC Columbia Technology
Incubator can do for you.
